N.Y. — Silver prices have been at historic heights in recent months, and not surprisingly, two sterling silver flatware sets topped the action at Hudson Valley Auctioneers’ annual New Year’s Day auction. Each attained $8,750, including buyer’s premium. One (shown) was a large Reed & Barton Spanish Baroque set, 120 troy ounces plus 20 large handles and 17 small handles, that comprised 11 dinner forks, 12 lunch forks, 34 small spoons, eight sorbet spoons, seven teaspoons, 16 large knives, 16 small knives and various serving pieces.
