LOS ANGELES — Abell Auctions bridged the gap between May and June with its Fine Art, Jewelry and Important Estates auction, which was conducted over the course of two days, from May 31-June 1. Bidders saw 625 lots of fine art, designer jewelry, furnishings and decorative arts from prominent West Coast residences and private collections cross the block, led by Frank Tenney Johnson’s (American, 1874-1939) “Desert Moon,” which sold on day two for $118,750, including buyer’s premium. Completed in 1937, the oil on canvas was signed and titled to its stretcher and had provenance to the estate of Arline Francis Banna (Indian Wells, Calif.). Additional highlights from both days of the sale will be featured in an upcoming issue.
