KNOXVILLE, TENN. — “Twilight,” an oil on board by Birger Sandzén (1871–1954) was the top lot at Case Antiques’ August 5 auction when it attained $97,000, well over its high estimate. The landscape depicting Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado with a lake at sunset is done in vivid hues using  a thick impasto technique. The signed work is dated 1927 and in a carved, whitewashed frame.
