PALO ALTO, CALIF. – Beginning June 15 until September 1, Lyons Ltd Antique Prints will host an exhibit of original botanical etchings, engravings and lithographs dating from 1490 to 1920.
This exhibit offers both the novice and experienced collector a chance to explore and handle the works of such notable botanical illustrators as Besler, De Bry, Curtis, Meriam, Catesby, Weinmann, Redoute, Volckamer, Thornton and Loudon, to name a few. Shown here is “The Daffodil” by Besler, one of 23 original engravings for Hortus Eystenttis, known to be hand colored in Germany in 1613 at the time of publication.
Located in their new gallery at Ten Town & Country Village, Lyons Ltd also travels nationally to exhibit their antique botanical images annually at the Philadelphia Flower Show and at the New York and Chicago Botanical Gardens.
