J.C. Devine, Inc is sad to announce the death of its founder and chairman, Joseph C. Devine. Devine was born in Nashua, N.H., on May 23, 1937, to Joseph E. and Amelia (Calvetti) Devine. He was raised and educated in Wilton, N.H., and went on to attend St Anselm’s College and Boston College.
Devine lived in Milford for more than 35 years and wintered in Sebastian, Fla., for many years. He was the founder of J.C. Devine, Inc, Auctioneers and Appraisers and operated the business for more than 35 years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing and sailing on Lake Winnipesaukee.
J.C. traveled many miles to acquire consignments, and loved every moment of the auction action, serving as the company’s primary auctioneer for many years. He had been enjoying his retirement in Florida for the past four years.
He will certainly be missed by his family, friends and everyone at J.C. Devine, Inc. We will work diligently to continue what he started, and continue to provide our customers the best of service in a professional manner.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wilton, in the spring.
