Everett M. Finney, 57, died Wednesday, January 6, at his home. Known as “Ed” and “Pop Pop,” he was the well-respected co-owner, with his wife, Sharon, of Finney’s Auction Gallery in Schodack for the last 30 years.

He was born in Albany, a son of the late Everett M. Sr and Margaret (Gosh) Finney. He moved to East Greenbush, N.Y., in 1981.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon (Iwanos) Finney; son Everett M. Finney III and his wife Karen of North Greenbush; daughter Jennifer Smith and her husband Jason of East Greenbush; sister and brother-in-law Beth and Ron Ste-Marie of Inlet, N.Y.; mother-in-law Dorothy Cramer of Albany; brother-in-law Mike Iwanos of Albany; and grandson, Martin E. Finney of North Greenbush. He is also survived by his niece Nicole Jolley and nephew Ron Ste-Marie Jr.

Ed was known in the community for his generosity, especially toward children. He tremendously enjoyed the wildlife that visited his home.

Ed enjoyed living life large. He was an avid collector and especially loved collecting Disney memorabilia. He liked his trips to the Saratoga Race Track on a nice summer day. Ed loved being with his family more than anything in this world. He especially enjoyed family trips to Cape May, Myrtle Beach and Sacandaga.

Most of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Ed adored his loving wife Sharon. He greatly appreciated the loving care given by his dear daughter Jen. Ed enjoyed a special bond with his devoted son Eddie, sharing with him his love of the auction business and mastering many games of chance. The light of his life was the special relationship that he and Sharon shared with their grandson Martin. Ed was excited about the upcoming birth of his second grandson Morgan.

A celebration of Ed’s life took place Monday, January 11, at the Franklin Terrace in Troy.
