MILFORD, MASS. — Coyle’s will present its annual spring estate auction on Tuesday, April 15, featuring an unreserved collection of antique French and Continental furniture, artwork and decorative accessories assembled by designer Ruben de Saavedra over a number of years for a client in a grand European-style home in Concord, Mass. Great care was taken with selecting the décor, and the items were purchased primarily from establishments in New York. Coyle’s has been privileged in the past to sell a large selection of antiques for these clients, and these are the items that have been stored as favorites for several years. In addition, Coyle’s will be offering estate furnishings and accessories from Boston area homes. The first session, at 2:30 pm prior to the 5 pm estate auction, will offer rugs and estate décor, including Aubusson-style rugs and others as well as decorative art.

Session two at 5 pm will feature a touch of elegance in the selection of furnishings, art and décor, including an exceptional pair of Nineteenth Century French Louis XVI bronze ormolu mounted gueridon tables with floral inlaid marble tops and flame urn finials, these tables were especially treasured by their owners.

A number of giltwood console tables graced the home, including a pair of gilt carved hanging consoles with carved full-winged eagles and red marble tops. A Nineteenth Century Continental carved console table with unusual specimen marble top as well as a pair of antique painted and carved consoles with rouge marble along with several other consoles will cross the block.

This collection also features some pedestals, including a highly decorative pair of Nineteenth Century Louis XVI-style parcel gilt and painted pedestals with green marble tops, carved gilt ram’s heads and musical décor as well as an elegant and unusual pair of Nineteenth Century French Empire-style inlaid mahogany and rosewood marble top pedestals with classical female gilt figure and ormolu decoration with columns. A number of single pedestals and stands will also be offered.

The grand European-style home where these furnishings were originally from was decorated with unusual gilt antique mirrors, including an impressive Nineteenth Century French carved gilt wall mirror with large fleur de lis crest and ribbon draped carvings (approximately 7 feet 8 inches high). Other mirrors to be offered include a Nineteenth Century Grecian-style over-mantel mirror with Greek key design and carved lion heads, an oval rope and ribbon-style antique mirror with dolphin head sconces as well as a gilt antique Louis XVI-style mirror with flame finial urns (85 inches high). A Venetian-style porcelain mirror with ornate crest and floral décor is also part of the collection. In addition, there are many pieces of custom silk upholstered sofas, French window bench and bergères to be offered.

Accessories and artwork will include a French bronze figure “Sisters” signed Henri Pernot with French foundry mark; a set of Saint-Louis gold encrusted blown stemware in three sizes with 12 pieces of each, porcelain, crystal and sterling will also be offered. The artwork in the sale will include a number of dog portraits and animals and some of the art with Ruben de Saavedra labels attached, Continental paintings and watercolors include a pair of gouache portraits of young ladies signed Constant Joseph Brochart. Old drawings and etchings in custom frames will also be included.

This will be the fourth auction in the new venue, which has been well received by the audience for its spacious hall, easier loading and unloading, restaurant and easy access from the highway in addition to the option for overnight accommodation.
