Some of the sale highlights include:
A watercolor by Joseph Mallard W. Turner (1775-1851), an archive of paintings,
drawings, and letters from Cuban artist Wifredo Lam (1902-1982) and a
Japanese woodblock print by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) done for Time Magazine.
Early American historical items such as: an unpublished ninth plate tintype of Tad Lincoln in one of his uniforms. An 1859 register from Baltimore’s Barnum Hotel signed by dozens of leading American figures, including Fontaine Beckham, Col. Lewis W. Washington, Charles L. Tiffany, Admiral Franklin Buchanan CSN and 1oo’s of future Confederate and Union soldiers.
A fine selection of antique and contemporary gold and gemstone jewelry. Books from a distinguished local Library including a scarce 1755 is• edition. 1’1 printing two voJ{ime folio of Samuel Johnsons seminal work, Dictionary of the English Language.
Sterling silver items include a 1779 French tastevin with a Louis XIV and Marie Antionette medallion, Scottish, British and American sterling silver tableware and flatware from Daniel Ker, Isaac Callard, Gorham, Schofield, Wallace and Towle.
