DALLAS — Native American artifacts vied against Pre Colombian, Oceanic, African and even Indian lots in the October 30 Ethnographic Art: American Indian, Pre-Columbian and Tribal Art Signature sale at Heritage Auctions. The $1.18 million-achieving 568-lot sale reached its apex at $85,000, including buyer’s premium, for a Comanche beaded hide baby carrier that was made around 1890 and measured 45 inches long. It was one of nearly 60 lots from a private Scottsdale, Ariz., collection, many of which earned some of the sale’s highest prices. An upcoming issue will discuss more of these highlights.
