DARIEN, CONN. – Geary Gallery, 576 Boston Post Road, will exhibit recent work by Pamela Riley Abear. Paintings in oil and acrylic of Great Britain and Bermuda will be featured.
Bermuda has long been a favorite subject for Abear to paint, having spent many years since childhood visiting the Island.
Great Britain has been a more recent discovery that has inspired her to capture not only sweeping coastal views, but the magnificent diverse architecture and beautiful countryside as well. “I’m an Anglophile at heart,” said the artist.
A self-taught painter, she attended Tyler School of fine art in Philadelphia as a metalsmith major. She then transferred to the University of New Hampshire to complete her studies in art.
As a commissioned artist for the past 15 years, she has created unique large window paintings and murals for homes and offices as well as house and pet portraits for clients along the East Coast, England and Bermuda.
For the pat three years Pamela Riley Abear has served as vice president for the Stamford Art Association and has been in charge of new member shows in the downstairs gallery. In 2000 her design of “Surf & Turf” was chosen to be painted on a cow in Stamford’s Cow Parade.
Abear resides in Stamford with her husband, three daughters and two dogs. An opening reception with the artist is scheduled for May 19 from 5 to 8 pm. the show will hang at Geary Gallery through June 18.
