WAYNE, N.J. — Alice Irene Booth, of Wayne, passed away on November 20, 2025 after a brief illness; she was 87. A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Alice grew up in Teaneck and was the cherished daughter of George Augustus Decourcey and Laura Peterson Decourcey. Along with her identical sisters, Lorraine and Pat, she was one of the renowned “Decourcey Triplets.”
Alice attended Rutgers University where she met her beloved husband, Arthur Booth. Their marriage, spanning 62 years, was a testament to deep love and dedication. Alice and Art (affectionately known as Bud) shared a close, loving relationship that inspired everyone who knew them.
After marrying Bud, Alice partnered with her mother-in-law, Lois, to create the antiques business The Two Bees. A graduate of Douglass College with a history degree, Alice developed a passion for hunting antiques for their home and participating in antique shows. Over time, her love for Eighteenth Century antiques grew, and Bud shared her enthusiasm. Together, they attended many antiques auctions where Alice became well known for her determination to have the winning bid. Alice and Bud were regular exhibitors in several antiques shows including those in York and Elverson, Penn. They also enjoyed countless weekends building their collection while attending shows and visiting dealers throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Through this shared passion, they formed lasting friendships with many other collectors and dealers.
Professionally, Alice enjoyed a long career as an investigator for the Passaic County Department of Social Services, where she served for 25 years before retiring. As an advocate for equal rights, one of her proudest achievements was helping to introduce the Communications Workers of America union to her office. She also generously volunteered her time to assist coworkers in studying for and passing civil service tests needed for career advancement.
Alice will be remembered for her strong, spirited nature and her warm, friendly heart. Her life was defined by the extraordinary connection she shared with her husband, and the joy she found in her daughters and grandsons, always ready to share a laugh or a favorite story. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Arthur Booth; her daughters, Christine Booth and Ann-Marie Linz; son-in-law, Robert Linz; grandsons, Jason Linz and Ryan Linz; sisters, Pat Snow and Lorraine Lehman; brother-in-law, Bill Lehman; sister-in-law, Louise Decourcey; sister-in-law, Betsy Cronk; brother-in-law, Dave Cronk; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
