MANCHESTER, VT. — Nathan Auction & Real Estate is conducting an online auction consisting of selected property from a Manchester estate. This auction features artwork, carpets, silver and more.
There is a mix of antique and custom furniture. Highlights include Harden Furniture/Yale reproduction Newport Chippendale mahogany shell-carved slant-lid blockfront desk/bookcase, after the Mabel Brady Garvan desk/bookcase; a Brunswick-Balke-Collender pool table, circa 1900, 9 by 5 feet, slate table made of quarter sawn oak and complemented by bird’s-eye maple panels, brass rosettes and floral carved oak panels; a limited-edition custom military chess set titled “The Military Chess Set of the War Between the States circa 1863” by Charles C. Stadden, fourth quarter Twentieth Century, that comprises a mahogany rectangular box in the campaign style with a removable lid the underside of which is an inlaid wooden chess board.
There is also a palace-size Khorason antique carpet, 24 by 14 feet, circa 1900, and other nice carpets; Gerrit Van Honthhorst’s (Dutch, 1590-1656) “Prince Maurice of Bohemia,” canvas on oil on panel, 54 by 34½ by 63 inches framed; 18 pieces of signed porcelain fruits and veggies by Mary Kirk Kelly (1918-2013); a Wallace sterling silver water pitcher #201, 4½ pints; set of nine Steiff sterling silver goblets, #801, 6½ inches high; sterling plates, flatware, etc; John Widdicomb neo-classical three-drawer server with four turned columns having brass fittings and a specimen marble top.
