MILFORD, CONN. — The leading lot in Shannon’s October 30 auction, a William Trost Richards (1833-1905) Autumn Landscape, sold for $300,000, including premium, after competitive bidding between private collectors. The painting, dated 1876, is a rare example from the artist’s Pre-Raphaelite, Victorian era and led the 159-lot auction to $2.1 million. Additional highlights from this auction will be featured in an upcoming issue.
