LARCHMONT, N.Y. — Clarke Auction Gallery conducted its New Year’s Estate Auction on January 22 with almost 600 lots of fine arts and antiques. Israeli artist Reuven Rubin’s (1893-1974) work climbed to the top lots, with “Road to Safed” achieving $300,000 within its $250/350,000 estimate. Authenticated by the Rubin Museum Foundation, the oil on canvas was included in a 1974 monograph of the artist edited by Sarah Wilkinson. Other Rubin works were also sold to success in the auction; these and more top lots of the sale will be covered in an upcoming issue.
