STEPHEN & CAROL HUBER, Old Saybrook, Conn. — This graphic Westtown Township, Chester County sampler was worked by Elizabeth Yearsley at age 17. She married her neighbor William Otley in 1836. Note: Elizabeth’s sister Mary Ann married William Otley’s brother Alban. Choose your neighbors wisely. The sampler is inscribed: "Elizabeth Yearsleys work in the 17th/ year of her age 1827" and at the bottom, Mary Taylor Teacher. This sampler is accompanied with extensive research. The sampler is silk on linen gauze measuring 27½ by 34 inches framed. A similar sampler naming the same teacher was worked by Adaline Coburn in 1827. www.antiquesamplers.com.
