Historic Acoma Polychrome Olla- Price Upon Request
Native American, historic Acoma Polychrome Olla, having rain cloud and geometric designs. Dimensions: Approximate height 11", diameter 12". Condition: Shows normal wear for age, no cracks. Estimated age: 1910’s-1920’s or earlier. Provenance: From the estate of artist and filmmaker Bert Van Bork. Van Bork was born in 1928 in Augustusburg, Germany. He studied art at the Academies of Fine Arts in Berlin, Leipzig, and Dresden. He directed countless films for Encyclopaedia Britannica Educational Corporation, including "Indian Art of the Pueblos", which tells how the Pueblo Indian tribes of the American southwest are preserving ancient art forms of their ancestors. Through ceramics, basketry, hand weaving and ritual dancing, contemporary Indians use symbols, forms and styles which reflect cultural history and religion. Van Bork made over 200 films.
