The premier lot at Northeast Auctions’ three-day weekend sale, conducted April 1-3 at the Center of New Hampshire, was a pristine three-part mahogany bookcase attributed to Duncan Phyfe, which realized $116,000. Bidding opened at $45,000 and fluttered between the phone and prominent dealers in the room. The phone bidder prevailed. The piece came from the celebrated New York furniture collection of Richard and Beverly Kelly. Other offerings from various owners included mocha ware from the collection of Bill Lewan and American furniture from the collection of Barbara Comee. A full report of the sale will appear in a future issue. -Frances McQueeney-Jones Mascolo
