ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A circa 1861 Federal yellow pine huntboard with powder-blue paint, inscribed inside one drawer “M.C. Jackson 1861, Georgia, Dawson Co. Barrettsville,” realized $39,360, including buyer’s premium, to lead three days of sales at Brunk Auctions. Coming to sale from a Chicago collection, the piece not only descended in the Jackon-Williams-Simpson family but had provenance to Woodbury, Conn., folk art dealer David A. Schorsch. More highlights from the American/Southern auction, as well as that of an important Maryland Private collection that sold on September 10 and a British & Continental sale on September 9, will be featured in a future issue.
