A rare blue painted box with yellow and red foliate decoration was the top lot at Cyr Auction Company on August 3. The auction, a two-day sale featuring the collection of New Hampshire dealers Tom and Nancy Lindsey, featured a large selection of Americana on Wednesday and was followed the next day with a selection of Native American and rustic items. Cyr reported large crowds for both sessions as well as active phone bidding and a host of absentee bids. Bidding on the rare box, measuring 16 by 36 by 13 inches, was brisk with the lot selling to a Maine collector present in the room for $23,000.
