MCLEAN, VA. — Nancy Beel Boos, of McLean, Va., passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 2, 2025. Born on July 28, 1938, raised in St Clair Shores, Mich., and having lived in both Grosse Pointe Shores and Bloomfield Hills, she only recently moved to Virginia to be closer to her daughters. Nancy graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit in 1956 and went on to the University of Michigan for one year before leaving to work for the renowned Detroit attorney Lester S. Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Margaret Beel, her brother Joseph Beel (Madelyn) and her husband Frank H. Boos, who passed away in 2006.
Nancy, a talented businesswoman, was the feisty half of a dynamic duo who together owned and operated the Frank H. Boos Gallery in Bloomfield Hills, a leading regional auction house that was a respected presence in the Detroit area arts community for more than 40 years. A passionate lover of the arts, she was on the board of the Michigan Foundation for the Arts for many years. Nancy closed the gallery in 2006 after Frank passed.
Nancy cherished her family dearly, both human and canine. She is survived by her children Jonathan (Sheri), Alexandra (John), Kristina and stepson Christopher (Geraldine) and her grandchildren Jonathan, Jr, Lauren, Christian and step-grandchildren Shelby, Marcus, Max and Eric.
The family will receive friends at 1 pm on Saturday, July 12, until the Celebration of Life at 2 pm, at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Humane World for Animals, the Lewy Body Dementia Association and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
