PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – A lively Twentieth Century painting titled “Summer Hunt,” an image depicting Indians hunting buffalo by artist John Ford Clymer, was the top lot of Northeast Auctions’ two-day event this past weekend, May 21 and 22. The painting also established a record price for the artist as it sold for $231,500. Ten phones were on the picture when the bidding opened at $65,000, against the estimated $60/80,000, with one of them claiming the lot in the end. A complete report of the sale will appear in a future issue. -FMM
