Late Addition Vase at Landry’s Sale Fetches $27,125
ESSEX, MASS. — A rare Marblehead vase decorated by Hannah Tutt was among the top lots at Landry’s Salem Estate Auction that took place on Thursday, June 12. The auction featured the contents of the Barromee “Babe” Dube home and consisted mainly of nice quality decorative rdf_Descriptions.
A couple of late additions to the sale proved to be hot rdf_Descriptions with the Marblehead vase having been consigned by a woman from Manchester-By-The-Sea, Mass., who was cleaning house prior to a move. The rare vase in muted greens and decorated with panels of vines was approximately 14 inches tall and marked with the paper label, impressed ship and signed with the artists initials. The lot opened for bidding at $5,000 with absentee and phone bidders competing for the lot, although it ultimately sold in the room to Arts and Crafts consultant Marilee Meyer for $27,125.
Another top lot was a Minton majolica fish platter that realized $23,000. A complete review of the Landry auction will appear in a future issue.
