A break-in at a summer residence here sometime between February 28 and March 29 and reported by the caretaker on March 30 is being investigated by the Wolfeboro Police Department. Stolen was a three-quarter-length folk art portrait of a woman in a gold frame measuring approximately 3 feet by 3 feet and valued at $6,000.
Currently unattributed, the painting is rather dark and the details of the woman’s dress are difficult to make out. She is wearing a white mopcap with a ribbon (orange?). The top of the dress has a white “lace” fabric that covers her shoulders and top of the dress at the bodice. The woman’s hair is parted in the middle and appears to be brown with ringlets on either side of her face. Her left hand is visible in her lap.
Anyone having any information about this item is asked to contact Patrolman Scott Todisco of the Wolfeboro Police Department at 603-569-1444. Reference incident number 07-147-OF.
