NORTH HUDSON, N.Y. — Brimfield Antique Shows (BAS) Traveling Show expands to the Adirondacks in New York this summer. In addition to Hertans, Weekend Warrior, the Traveling Show and Brimfield North in New Hampshire, BAS will be adding a new multi-venue show in North Hudson, N.Y., on July 25-27. Known as the gateway to the Adirondacks, North Hudson is an unassuming historic little gem nestled in the Adirondacks Forest at exit 29 off I-87 about one hour north of Saratoga Springs and 1½ hours north of Albany. “It is a beautiful area with lots of space, and it is a popular vacation destination, which makes it a perfect location for our Traveling Show,” stated Klia Ververidis, CEO of Brimfield Antique Shows.
The Brimfield Adirondacks show will be conducted in two venues within a short walk of each other. The first venue, the Frontier Town Gateway, formerly the Frontier Town theme park, will primarily host the indoor vendors and will provide most of the parking for the show. The second venue is the Hay Fields Antiques compound, which will host outdoor vendors and boasts a multi-vendor antiques center that will open in May. “Both venues are unique and complementary and make the show fun and interesting,” said Ververidis.
Brimfield Antique Shows is working in collaboration with the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) to help promote the show and reach a wider audience. ROOST is also providing helpful information for people who are traveling to the area. “We have received a very warm welcome from the good people of the Adirondacks area. We are very excited to be bringing a taste of Brimfield to a new audience,” according to Ververidis.
The Brimfield Traveling Show began in 2021 in New Hampshire out of necessity because of Covid and has been very successful. The New Hampshire traveling show, which takes place on Memorial Day and Columbus Day weekends at the Deerfield Fairgrounds in Deerfield, N.H., typically has more than 300 vendors and 10,000-15,000 shoppers. “It’s a wonderful way to introduce new audiences to the Brimfield Antique Shows brand. A lot of people have never heard of the Brimfield Antique Flea Market, but after attending a traveling show and getting a taste, they want to come to the flagship show as well. It is a win-win-win. Giving vendors a new place to sell, shoppers a more convenient way to shop all while promoting the flagship show in Brimfield,” explained Ververidis.
Brimfield Antique Shows flagship show, Hertans, located at 6 Mill Lane Road in Brimfield, Mass., will open as usual on Wednesday, May 14, at noon with the ringing of the bell and runs through Sunday May 18. Additional spaces and food vendors were added to the field to make this year’s show the largest ever at 260 vendor spaces. Admission to the show is $5 on opening day only and it is free the rest of the week. Parking for a fee is available at the show. The Weekend Warrior show is Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, and will feature all new vendors who move onto Hertans field for the weekend bringing fresh merchandise and re-energizing the field.
The hospitality tent sponsored by Brimfield Antique Shows is back on Hertans this year. The hospitality tent is available to anyone who would like to sit down, have a cold beverage and cool off. It is also where all events take place.
Special events sponsored by Brimfield Antique Shows are planned throughout the week. Returning to Hertans on Thursday, May 15, at 6 pm is the Original Brimfield Auction by Brimfield/Crown Auctions. The auction will feature approximately 350 estate-fresh lots, which will be sold at a fast pace with no reserves. The auction is a popular event with vendors, as many use the auction to restock their booths for the weekend. “Our best customers are the vendors,” said Ververidis. “They usually sell the items they buy at the auction before they leave the show! It’s a great way to restock without going home and it’s a lot of fun.”
On Friday night, May 16, Brimfield Antique Shows-Hertans will host a Star Wars-themed party, an open mic with comedians, karaoke and more and will feature the New Orleans-style band The Catnip Junkies. This free event is open to everyone. Doors open at 6 pm in the Brimfield Antique Shows hospitality tent. Star Wars attire is encouraged.
