STOCKBRIDGE, MASS. — Berkshire Botanical Garden’s 2025 Art/Garden series continues with “Lucid Illusions,” an exhibition featuring works from fine-art photographer Richard James.
James is an internationally published fine-art photographer and printmaker. For the better part of 15 years, he has traveled the United States and Europe in search of perfect, real-world florals and landscapes to playfully, almost romantically, blend with his unique imagination and creativity.
James’ images are clever, playful and engaging. They draw you in, making you an audience member in his deft visual storytelling. It’s all for the express purpose, as he insists, of eliciting an emotional response from you, the viewer and collector.
“Lucid Illusions” is “the space between reality and dreams,” he said about the upcoming exhibition at the Leonhardt Galleries.
“What drew us to Richard James’s work is the way he blurs the line between the seen and the imagined,” said Berkshire Botanical Garden executive director Mike Beck. “There’s an intimacy to his photographs that makes you pause and look closer — what appears simple at first glance reveals layers of meaning and emotion. ‘Lucid Illusions’ captures that elusive space where reality becomes something more lyrical, more personal. We’re honored to host this exhibition and offer our visitors the chance to experience Richard’s extraordinary vision firsthand.”
The exhibition runs through June 1, in the Leonhardt Galleries.
Gallery hours for “Lucid Illusions” are seven days a week, 9 am to 5 pm.
