OLD GREENWICH, CONN. — The Ephemera Society of America (ESA) has announced the return of its flagship event, the ESA Ephemera Fair, produced and managed by Sanford L. Smith + Associates. Marking its 45th edition, the event will be conducted at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Old Greenwich from Saturday, March 15, to Sunday, March 16. This year’s fair coincides with ESA’s annual conference, themed “Invention and Innovation,” taking place on Friday, March 14.
Ephemera, defined by Oxford Reference as “items of collectible memorabilia typically written or printed and originally intended for short-term use,” captures the fleeting essence of human creativity and history. Although not meant to endure, these objects have become cultural treasures, offering glimpses into the past.
The ESA Ephemera Fair will feature more than 10,000 items, including advertisements, baseball cards, rare maps, playbills, banknotes, sheet music, luggage tags, wood engravings and more — spanning centuries of history and culture. With prices ranging from $10 for entry-level collectors to multi-million-dollar rarities, the fair caters to everyone from casual enthusiasts to seasoned experts.
Michael Peich, vice president of the Ephemera Society of America, shared his enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to kick off Ephemera 45. This year’s fair offers something for everyone, blending a mix of longtime returning dealers and exciting newcomers. Our 45th annual conference, themed ‘Invention and Innovation,’ provides a unique opportunity to delve into the profound impact of ephemera on our day-to-day lives and offers an excellent introduction to ESA membership.”
As the largest ephemera event in the United States, the fair will welcome more than 60 exhibitors from across the United States, including participants such as Evie Eysenburg Ephemera, aGatherin’ and Stephen Resnick. While many exhibitors have been part of the fair since its inception, the event continues to draw new dealers, ensuring fresh perspectives and diverse offerings year after year.
Presented in the heart of Connecticut, the ESA Ephemera Fair has been a cultural cornerstone for more than four decades, drawing collectors and enthusiasts from across New England, New York and beyond.
The Hyatt Regency Hotel is at 1800 East Putnam Avenue. For more information, www.sanfordsmith.com or 212-777-5218.
