HUDSON, N.Y. — On January 8, Public Sale Auction House will conduct its first auction of 2022, titled “Life in America” and described as “Americana and three-dimensional representations that commemorate life and work in America.”
The Americana items include signs, folk art and painted furniture — like a seafoam green hutch table and a 10-foot green painted display table. There are more than 100 signs from which to choose, highlighted by a few local discoveries, including a barber shop trade sign from the Hudson Valley. There are also traditional Americana items, including more than a dozen quilts from local homes, tramp art frames and boxes, a memory jug, gameboards, a sampler and a theorem.
“Life in America” will also contain several pieces representing the life and work of American factory workers and shopkeepers, including several store displays, like showcases and clothing racks and more than 100 signs representing diverse mediums, such as painted wood, tin litho and porcelain. The items representing factory work-life are highlighted by a massive 16-foot work table, industrial carts paint-encrusted from decades of use in a toy factory paint booth, and a huge 10-foot cast iron trough, among many others.
Public Sale’s “Life in America” auction will be online only at noon, January 8. An in-person preview is available through January 8, 10 am to 5 pm at 90 Green Street. For more information, www.public-sale.com or 518-966-7253.
