“Blithe Heart, Dancing Beneath Wool” -
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2019 in CHICAGO,
ILLINOIS at the Westin Chicago North Shore
The outstanding auction of antique dolls is featured in a wonderful catalog, “Blithe Heart, Dancing Beneath Wool” which is highlighted by the antique doll collection of Marilyn Bard of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, whose superb portrait Jumeau bébé, shown on the cover, is wearing its original Scottish coarse-woolen costume. It is this beautiful doll that has inspired the auction title from the writings of Edwin Hubbel Chapin, the 19th century American author and orator who wrote “The bosom can ache beneath diamond brooches; and many a blithe heart dances under coarse wool”. Also featured are dolls from the collections of the late Laura Weiner of Washington state, Part I of the collection of the late Marilyn Parsons of Louisiana, and selections from the Swiss collection of Madame X. Softbound. 8.5” x 11”. For information call 410-224-3655 or email email@example.com.
A 180 page full-color catalog is available for $59 (including priority postage). Live internet, telephone, and absentee bidding are available if you cannot attend. The auction can be viewed at www.theriaults.com after October 6.
Dolls featured in the October 26-27 Auction in Chicago
Madame Alexander, The Rodney Waller Collection:
Part Three – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2019
in CHICAGO, ILLINOIS at the Westin North Shore
Time has come for Beatrice Alexander, signature American dollmaker and designer, to take her rightful place among antique dolls.
Nearly 90 years have passed since her dolls first appeared, and for more than a half-century she stood as a symbol of excellence, ingenuity, and marketing mastery in the world of American dolls. Collector Rodney Waller noted this many years ago, and began a quest to find the rarest of the rarest of her dolls, prizing originality and excellence of condition as well as rarity. This is Session Three of his threepart auction of Madame Alexander dolls. This important volume will include several well-researched articles by Rodeny Waller including historical timeline of Alexander Doll production. Softbound. 8.5” x 11”.
A 180 page full-color catalog is available for $69 (including priority postage). Live internet, telephone, and absentee bidding are available if you cannot attend. The auction can be viewed at www.theriaults.com after October 6.
