Works by Laura Owens Shown at the Gardner Museum
BOSTON, MASS. – An exhibition of new works by Laura Owens, one of the artists credited with the rebirth of contemporary painting, will open at the Gardner Museum on June 1, and remain on view through September 16.
Owens’ works have been compared to David Hockney, Helen Frankenthaler and Mary Heilmann. Her large-scale paintings combine references from popular culture, wit, style, and elements of design to deliver images that have been posed to look unassuming and balanced in their surroundings.
The museum is located at 2 Palace Road. Telephone, 617-566-1401.
