LINCOLN, MASS. – Two solo shows at Clark Gallery feature new work by Martha Jane Bradford and Antonia Munroe. The shows will run concurrently through June 14, with an opening reception on Thursday, May 24, 5 to 7 pm.
“New Drawings: Digital Charcoals” is Bradford’s seventh solo show at the gallery. In the past, the artist has worked in painting, printmaking, and pastel, but recently has been exploring the world of digital images. As a master printmaker and remarkable draftsperson, she has combined the contemporary with the traditional to transform digital charcoals into limited edition Iris prints depicting the Maine landscapes that she is so connected to.
Antonio Munroe’s “Paintings” is the Maine artist’s first solo show with the gallery. After attending San Francisco Art Institute, Munroe went on to show her paintings in New York, Connecticut, Boston, and Maine.
Munroe paints lively still lifes on panel using oil pastel and oil paint. The elements within each still life unite nature with domestic artifact. In “Apples in a White Plate,” fresh apples and dried leaves nestled on a white ceramic plate create a Victorian tone.
Clark Gallery, 145 Lincoln Road, is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. For information, 781-259-8314.
