NEW YORK CITY – Christie’s Rockefeller Center introduces a series of “House Sales” slated for the first Wednesday of every month (except May and November) to “lifestyle” clients who are decorating their homes.
The inaugural sale will be a two-day event comprising 450 lots, and will include European furniture, porcelain, rugs, silver, prints, Nineteenth Century paintings, Twentieth Century decorative arts and Old Master paintings.
To offer prospective buyers ways to visualize the function and placement of decorative arts in a modern context, designer Jeffrey Bilhuber will peruse the sale’s objects stored in Christie’s warehouses and select his favorite pieces. Bilhuber offers comments about his selections in the preface of the catalog as part of the program A Designer’s Vision, launched in June 2000.
The House Sale will be February 5-6; viewing at Chris-tie’s Galleries at Rockefeller Center will be February 1- 5.
