MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA — Catherine Louise (Bartlett) Consentino died peacefully on April 25, 2025, in Moncton, New Brunswick, from colon cancer. At the time of her death, Cathy was living with purpose, enjoying her beautiful new home “in a cow pasture, by the sea,” which she built in 2024. She shared her time between Warner, N.H., and Little Shemogue, New Brunswick.
Cathy was born September 27, 1953, in Warner, N.H., to Edith (Swindlhurst) and Charles S. Bartlett. In her early years, her love of animals was evident in her commitment to the local 4-H, raising cocker spaniels. She would later develop a deep affection and talent for raising and showing springer spaniels that she carried throughout her life. Cathy attended the University of New Hampshire (UNH), majoring in home economics. In addition, being an avid UNH hockey fan, she was also a resident assistant and member of the B.O.G.A. Society of UNH North Congreve 1971-75.
She met her husband, Joseph Consentino in 1978 while reading the sports page on the Red Sox, immediately “hitting it off.” Together, they became a partnership of love and a shared passion for music, food, friendship and antiques.
Cathy was regarded as an expert in her field, a connoisseur of folk art and antiques. Cathy had a knack for identifying and describing, in great detail, period works, honoring the craftsmanship of the past. There was always a story and a piece of history she would pass along when talking about a piece of work. She was deeply respected as an expert throughout Canada and the United States for her passion and work with antiques. She had merchandise throughout Canada and the US — in addition to Timber River Farm Antiques in New Brunswick, she co-owned Thos. Bartlett Antiques in Chichester, N.H.

Cathy embraced a life of hard work and service; she embodied altruism at its finest and was always donating her time and energy to charity. She was especially passionate about local volunteerism in Timber River, Canada. She loved sharing her own love of reading and promoting literacy. She was the president of Port Elgin & District Volunteer Action Committee (PEDVAC) for 16 years. She was quietly nominated to receive prestigious recognition and was awarded the Queens Jubilee medal for her volunteer work in New Brunswick.
She was an active board member of the Canadian Antique Dealer Association and she loved traveling across Canada to attend the Bowmanville Antique Show. She spent many years at the Brimfield Antique show, and enjoyed the Heart of Tennessee Antique Show. One of her fondest memories was traveling across France, writing articles for Canadian magazines, offering commentary and reflection on the French antiques markets.
Those lucky enough to know her intimately know the depth of her heart and compassion for people and animals. She had an infectious laugh, (and the snort that would follow). Cathy especially loved a good mystery novel and playing bridge. She was a card-carrying member of Red Sox Nation; you would undoubtedly find her listening to a Sox game on the radio. She always found and celebrated the unique talents of her nieces and nephews and was their biggest cheerleader. Cathy was happiest spending time in the kitchen, cooking and entertaining, with her beloved dog Lester by her side. Cathy was endlessly talented, effortlessly kind, and deeply loved by everyone who had the joy of knowing her.

She is survived by her beloved fur-babies Lester, PD and Milar; her sister, Sarah Gilman-Lard and her husband, Michael, of Franklin, N.H.; brother Matthew Bartlett and his wife, Tiffany of Franklin, N.H.; brother Charlie Bartlett and his wife Jennifer, of Webster, N.H.; her nieces Miranda, Brooke, Mackenzie, Asa and Sadie; and nephews Logan, Nick and Samuel; her step-mother, Sandra Bartlett of Webster, N.H.; several extended family members throughout the United States; and many, many friends throughout Canada and the United States.
A celebration of life will be held at her home in Little Shemogue, New Brunswick on July 20, 2025. A second celebration will be held in New Hampshire during NH Antiques Week in August 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Port Elgin & District Volunteer Action Committee (PEDVAC), 12 Church Street, Port Elgin, NB, Canada, E4M 2C9.
