Topanga, Calif.-based show organizers Bill Caskey and Liz Lees will host a new show at the 69th Regiment Armory from November 16 to 19. The fair replaces the Connoisseur’s Antiques Fair, managed by Caskey-Lees on behalf of the Art & Antique Dealers League of America, Inc, for the past four years. Aimed at a younger, less conservative audience, “Uptown-Downtown” will emphasize design, showcasing antique, modern and contemporary art, objects, furnishings, fixtures, fabrics and follies for current living. “This show is directed not just at collectors and connoisseurs on the Upper East Side but also young professionals in Chelsea, Greenwich Village, the East Village, Tribeca and other affluent downtown neighborhoods,” said Caskey. “‘Uptown-Downtown’ will be in tune with trends in design and decorating, and have the active involvement of leading decorators and designers.” Caskey said the 55-dealer fair will be eclectic, featuring merchandise in a range of price points, from less than $1,000 to more than $200,000, Chippendale to Danish Modern. Poor attendance led to the suspension of the Connoisseur’s Antiques Fair’s, which was otherwise judged an artistic success. Many of the show’s exhibitors plan to join the new Caskey-Lees venture.
