NEW YORK CITY – Phillips, de Pury and Luxembourg has announced the appointment of Betty Krulik as head of the American art department.
Most recently Krulik served as a director at the Spanierman Gallery, LLC, in New York City. While at Spanierman, Krulik established a drawings department dealing with masterworks on paper, acted as an advisor to museums and individuals and served as the curator for landmark exhibitions including a show dedicated to the work of William Merritt Chase in November of 1994.
Previous to her tenure at Spanierman, Krulik was the head of the paintings department at Christie’s East in New York. In this role she handled business-getting, appraisals, researching and cataloguing for all categories of paintings from Old Masters through Contemporary art, with a concentration in American art. At Christie’s, under her management, business generated by the paintings department increased ten-fold in two years.
Krulik will be based in New York City at Phillip’s new headquarters at 3 West 57th Street.
