PITTSBURGH, PENN.— Anthony Ray Haradin, Jr, known to friends and family as Ray, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, June 24, at the age of 60, surrounded by his beloved wife and soulmate, Nancy, and close family members.
From Mount Lebanon, Penn., Ray was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy; his mother, Roberta (Godla) Haradin; his brother, David Haradin (Leslie Borstad); his cherished nephew, Alexander Taj Haradin; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr Anthony Ray Haradin, his uncle, Francis Haradin, and his beloved pet, Roxy Haradin.
Ray pursued his education at the University of Colorado at Boulder, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. His lifelong passion for antique toys, banks and soldiers blossomed into a remarkable career. He was the publisher of Old Toy Soldier Magazine, owner of Toys of YesterYear and a partner in RSL Auctions, Old Toy Soldier Auction House and Cybertoys — ventures that earned him admiration and respect throughout the collecting community.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Ray found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved golfing, traveling, exploring the outdoors and sharing spirited games of backgammon with his friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Ray’s memory to the Humane Society (www.humaneworld.org/en) — a cause close to his heart.
Ray’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched through his warmth, passion and generosity. He will be deeply missed.
