BOSTON — Nearly 150 carpets and woven textiles from Michael Hertzberg’s collection were the bill of fare on October 1 at Grogan & Company. Attended, both virtually and in person by bidders from 28 countries and 44 states, the sale achieved nearly $650,000 in total, with more than 91 percent sold. The top lot, and also the first lot of the sale, was a circa 1850 Persian Qashgai carpet that measured 10 feet 4 inches by 5 feet 7 inches. It related to a cited published example and, despite the international participation, sold to an American bidder, for $25,000. Prices are quoted with buyer’s premium.
