DALLAS — Heritage Auctions’ Fine Silver & Objects of Vertu Signature Auction, which was conducted on May 9, showcased the best of makers such as Tiffany & Company, Gorham, Paul Storr, Georg Jensen and the silversmiths of Taxco, Mexico. Pieces from the estates of longtime collector David Rosen (Beverly Hills, Calif.) and California-based collector Billy Williams were also featured. The day was led by a Tiffany & Company silver and mixed metal water pitcher with mokume ornamentation. The circa 1875 pitcher was adorned with applied vines and a dragonfly in silver, copper and brass, and two mokume gourds. Consigned from a Richmond, Va., collection, the pitcher also had provenance to a January 2019 auction at Sotheby’s, New York. Interest took it to the sale-topping price of $87,500, including buyer’s premium. Additional highlights from this sale will be featured in an upcoming issue.
