AMESBURY, MASS. — John McInnis sold the Pat Hatch collection of more than 400 cloth dolls in a single-owner sale on April 27, following two days of his Country Estates auction. One of the top lots of the doll sale was an 18-inch Black boy doll, which earned $9,600 (pictured). A pair of 15-inch Black sister dolls would account for the second highest price — $8,680 — of the antiques portion of the sale. The two-day estates auction included numerous marine items, country furniture, several granite millstones and very early iron hearth items, among other things. Several items had descended in the family of George Mifflin Dallas, the 11th vice-president of the United States. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium; a more extensive sale review will follow.
