EAU CLAIRE WISC. — Hugh Passow Antique Emporium, 306 Main Street, has reported that two statues were taken from the shop around April 10. Both are scarce and seldom-seen bronzes.
The first is named “Farnese Bull,” and is 17½ inches high and weighs around 50 pounds. It is a Nineteenth Century statue, a Grand Tour item from Naples, Italy, and has an unusual golden brown patina; it is not signed.
The second statue is titled “Indian Lovers” and is by French artist Desire Louis Marie. It is 19 inches tall, circa 1865, and weighs about 30 pounds. It has a deep chocolate patina and is not signed. The original slate base to this sculpture was not taken.
Hugh Passow Antique Emporium is offering a substantial reward for information leading to the return of these pieces, according to Hugh Passow, owner.
