Brad Selinger, 67, Antiques Dealer

Brad Selinger earlier in his career.

HANOVER, PENN. — Brad Selinger died Saturday, January 18, in Hanover Hospital after a courageous battle with long-term heart complications. He was born May 1, 1946, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Roslyn and Ira Selinger. Brad referred fondly of his home and father’s business in Brooklyn and spoke with love and compassion of the time he spent with his grandmother and nanny.

After leaving New York and spending time in Africa and New Zealand, Brad moved his antiques business in the 1990s to the Baltimore, Md., area and then to East Berlin, Penn. With his love of early painted items, folk art, burl, stoneware, wallpaper boxes and related Americana, Brad became an enthusiastic and important dealer at antiques shows ranging from Vermont and New Hampshire in the north, Florida in the south, Nashville and Chicago in the Midwest, to many in between.

With the help of friends Joe and Janice Heine, Brad was able to continue doing shows until last November. Brad was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He developed friends across the country through his business and travels. Brad admired the actress Katharine Hepburn, whom he met at an antiques show and continued a friendship. Brad was often overheard upon parting, “Please remember me to your lovely wife, husband or family.”

Brad was a regular supporter of St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Contributions may be made in remembrance of Brad Selinger to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (800-655-1900 or www.stjude.org).

A memorial service and gathering of friends will take place at 10 am on February 20 at South Hills Hebrew Cemetery off the Old Baltimore Pike in York, Penn.

Brad leaves behind many people in and out of the antiques world who will miss him.
